The Next Step

Now buzznet, this is something I've been trying to articulate for quite some time. This is just one of my many theories, but I don't expect anyone to read it muchless agree or have something nice to say. With that being said feel free to read it, state your opinions. I'd like to hear what your theories are. I'm not here to bash anyone, and neither should you guys. So here it goes.

They say we evolve for the best. Evolution is progression. Progression is good. Both words with connotations that society has told us meant something great. So what do lost causes evolve into?

The way I see it is, that humanity, mankind, is a lost cause. Society tells us what we should do; how we should behave; what is normal; what is okay to feel; what is okay to see; and so on and so on. But, in retrospect, we’ve never been of good nature. We’ve been greedy, selfish, destructive, violent, etc. throughout our existence; so what’s to say we aren’t going to get any worse? We sure as shit haven’t gotten better. We haven’t cured famine, we haven’t rid the world of abuse, terror, pain. In fact, more than often, we inflict these things on each other. With the minor exceptions of the martyrs of the world (Mother Teresa and whatever other individuals society felt necessary to teach us), we haven’t done a lot to be proud of.

This leads to my theory: Mankind’s evolution, at some point, will have to be resembling a zombie. Eventually all great species of its time comes to a halt. Plants, dinosaurs, animals, and humans. Mankind has/will be a lost cause as long as it exists. As we continue to evolve, we will just become more and more twisted. I feel that a zombie is a metaphor of this. Maybe we won’t physically turn into this, but we will more than likely become “zombie-like” emotionally and mentally. Our species cannot always remain number one. Evolution doesn’t work that way.

Because everyone has an opposing disposition, we will die for our arrogance. We are our own destruction.

That being said, people in society have an 'idea' of how we're all supposed to be. We've been taught to not be greedy, or selfish or anything, but that's just life. You can't help who you are. Everyone's influenced by everything they see, they do, they touch. Society is NEVER going to be the same as it has been in the past, it will always be changing; the people, views, religion etc.
My point is, society isn't a 'lost cause' in my opinion -- we're always gonna change and things are always going to be different. It's some people's opinion that it should be this way, or some people's opinions that it will be that.

I agree with that to some extent and I see where you're coming from. I mean, you see different things daily that I probably won't ever see in my lifetime and same goes for the other way around. But I think as long as society does exist, which is obviously something that can't be rid of unless mankind no longer exists, that this "zombie" state will occur. I don't mean it physically, but I see, at least for the peers around me, it happening. I think greediness and selfishness is something that we don't realize is a big influence in our lives. I'm no exception. whether we realize it or not, those qualities that are far more existent than it should be is taking the easier way out. Its easier to worry about just ourselves rather than someone else. Its easier to live a life with no regards to things outside what we can see. Society doesn't make it any better, because they do glorify the bad more than the good. I see more terrifying stories on the news than I do good stories. And I know there are some out there. But when we continually have someone feeding us things like this, we don't change. We see it as normal. When that stops, maybe we won't be a lost cause. Either way, I do agree with what you're saying. For the longest time I used to think the same.

i dig your thoughts & actually agree w/what you see because if you have ever studied theology, well what your seeing in the world right now has been written by a many long ago. but life to all mankind is not a Lost cause it's a lesson and @ times a roller coaster.
